Photographers, remember to do the following when in Bruges, Belgium…
- Bring your tripod
- Say no to the second beer at dinner so you can set up while the evening sky is still that lovely cobalt color
- Ask for directions (or learn to read a map – it is a bit challenging in Bruges)
- Bring your tripod
Of course, I didn’t do any of those things. My biggest regret, though, is inadvertently leaving my tripod at home. In my rush to get to the airport, I forgot it next to my bed.
You can up your ISO in the absence of a tripod, and Photoshop has some options to reduce noise… but you know, it’s just not the same as a crisp clear shot done right.
Bring your tripod.
Beautiful shot!
Thanks, this is one of my favorites!
Gorgeous shot! I can’t wait to hear more about your travels.
Thanks, Dawn! Maybe we’ll get to chat at our next Wicked Women’s meeting. 🙂
Hoping to make it, but very unlikely, given my travel timing… if not, then later! 🙂
Bruge is a gorgeous city. There’s a photo around every corner. I think this photo turned out great despite the lack of tripod. You obviously have a fairly steady hand. I never take a tripod on vacation and have managed night scenes by just butting myself solidly against a wall or bridge or something to aid my stability. Is that what you did here?
Thank you! I believe I tried using the bridge first, but the angle was too low so I tried a street sign behind me.
very cool
