I had to deviate from my Ireland posts to show everyone what a beautiful fall day it is in Bellingham, Washington…and also ask a question about HDR photography. Recently, I found the HDR Toning option in PhotoShop. I’ve used it on a few of my photos, with some manual fine-tuning. I’m not sure if I like the results yet or not. I haven’t yet tried the traditional method of taking several photos and using software to combine the images into an HDR image. Any thoughts on methods that work well or produce a good result?

Well done composition. I have not experimented with HDR. I find that some use it to such an extreme that it takes on a surreal/ unreal quality that they had not intended on producing; less is more. This composition is very effective. 🙂
Thank you! Yes – I agree about that surreal/ unreal quality, and that is what I want to avoid. Sometimes, HDR can be a little too overly saturated for me as well. I think has to be done with a light hand.

The colorful leaves along the path are very nice to follow with the eyes. I kinda like it. I’ve been meaning to do HDR myself. Not much interesting landscapes where I live.
Are you in a farming community, Martina? Sometimes, those nice rolling farmlands make for some interesting shots.
