I had to take a break from roller derby photo editing to do something artistic. This lead me to an area called Sudden Valley, where it remained cold enough for the frost to survive the day. It outlined the foliage in a way I found very beautiful.
This has nothing to do with the picture, but I just realized it’s February 1 already – which means I can now say I’ll be back in Ireland next month! I’m actually looking forward to returning more than the Nikon I plan on buying later this month. I know, weird! Life for me is still more about the experiences and the people. Photography is hands down my favorite hobby, but it can never fill that void I’ve felt since leaving Ireland.
I don’t think it’s weird at all that you are more excited about Ireland than Nikon. I agree, material things can never fill the void like life experiences and interesting people can.
That’s cool, if you’re gonna be in Dublin maybe you’d be interested in coming along to the photography group that I go to. Let me know and I’ll give you details on it!
Also nice photo 🙂
Aisling – I did not realize you were from Ireland! I went back into your blog today, and I see in a spot where you mention it. I have a friend in Dublin and another in Midleton. This trip, I’ll be landing in Cork and traveling up the west coast to Galway. Not sure if I’ll get over to Dublin, but I’d like to for a day anyway. I’ll have to keep you posted. The photography group sounds like a great idea! 🙂
Cool, have a great time anyway, the west coast is lovely, you’ll come back with plenty of nice photos!
Nice shot. I agree about people and experiences – for me it meshes well with the photography. The hobby has led to me doing more interesting things and meeting more people, so it’s all good. 🙂
I can say the same, Mike. There are definitely people in my life who I’ve met solely through photography. I think the perfect career for me would probably be a travel writer/photographer for a magazine like National Geographic, Lonely Planet…etc. I could mix everything I love!
I like the ice crystals around the leaf, nice capture.
Thanks, David. My fingers actually got a little numb this time. It was friggin cold out there!
