“Can I steal your dice?” I asked Josh after harassing him for Photoshop advice.
“No…you can’t steal my dice.”
“Can I borrow your dice?” I tried again.
“What are you going to do with them?”
Eventually we worked out a temporary custody agreement so I could get this photo of the day with his Dungeons and Dragons dice.
42 immediately jumped out at me. Not only is it my favorite number, it is also the ultimate answer to ultimate question of life, the universe and everything.
I had no idea how significant my number choice would be when I picked it out as a child. I remember being in elementary school doing multiplication tables, and 7 x 6 = 42 became my favorite. Apparently Douglas Adams and even Lewis Carroll (Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland) had a similar fascination.

This shot took me back to grade school and middle school. I loved playing D&D. This person has a ton of dice! My ten year old self would have been quite envious. My favorite set of dice was my clear, crystal set (looks like your “42” die). I don’t know about any particular fascination with 42 at that age (my favorite number was 77), but I loved doing multiplication times tests. I remember doing a hundred in less than a minute. 🙂
I was quite shocked to see so many dice myself! 🙂 Who could resist the photo op? Thank you for sharing that memory – I seem to remember having a similar interest in the times tests. Life was so much simpler then.
Ahhh Hitchhiker’s…gotta love it! On a side note, I didn’t have to beg for my Balance shot.
Well, you weren’t trying to take an entire bag. Lol. I love your shot, btw!
