“We must go beyond textbooks, go out into the bypaths and untrodden depths of the wilderness and travel and explore and tell the world the glories of our journey.” ~ John Hope Franklin
I actually took this photo a while ago, but today I’m feeling the itch. I won’t need a passport to fly home at the end of the month, but my mind and heart are filled with the adventures yet to come and all the countries left to explore. I’m reminded of Lauren St. John’s reflections of Zimbabwe (then Rhodesia) when she moved there as a young girl in 1975, “Please, God…let me be someone who has adventures.” (Rainbow’s End, 2007)
Indeed, even as a stubborn and impetuous 30-something I still ask God the same thing.
