A Book Club for Lushes

A test on muscles in Anatomy and Physiology made me late to book club last night. And really, I hadn’t read anything other than Tortora and Derrickson’s Principles of Anatomy and Physiology, 12th edition, since the beginning of April anyway…

There was some discussion on what to read for the remainder of the year, and Adrienne made a list. My contribution was Dave Egger’s, A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius. I’ve really been looking forward to reading for fun again and finishing that book.

We decided to name our book club the “Lush You Book Club”. There’s a longish story behind this which starts on Valentine’s Day when Jess told Adrienne she “lushed” her instead of “loved” her. Since that time, lushing each other has become kind of our thing, and it only made sense that we incorporate it into our name. And yes, there is usually some wine involved. The point is we are not the stereotypical tea drinking Jane Austin readers you might associate with a book club, and that’s the way we like it.

Good girlfriends, good books, good wine – what’s not to lush?
